Supporting United Way of Forsyth County, N.C.

In our headquarters city of Winston-Salem, HanesBrands have given more than $41 million since 1999 to the United Way chapter to support families in need through our Forsyth County community campaign.

In 2016, the annual employee campaign raised $2.1 million for the United Way. Funding was provided by 2,500 Forsyth County Hanes employees.

National Black Theatre Festival

In 2009, HanesBrands was awarded the “Marvtastic Philanthropy Award,” from the National Black Theatre Festival for our continued support of the festival since its inception in 1989.

The National Black Theatre Festival, founded by Larry Leon Hamlin, affords a platform for black theater professionals to express cultural values and perspectives. The weeklong event is held biennially


Supporting Community Arts in Winston-Salem

HanesBrands has supported The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County for more than a decade. Hanes and our employees have raised and donated more than $3.9 million in support of the nonprofit’s annual campaign. In addition, we donated $2 million to fund the construction of HanesBrands Theatre, a performing arts center in Winston-Salem.

Green for Good – Changing Lives

In 2010, HanesBrands developed a way to combine three of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices – environmentalism, volunteerism and community improvement – into one comprehensive program.

Green for Good uses the proceeds from our sound environmental practices, such as recycling and energy savings, to fund targeted community improvement projects – in ­education, healthcare and infrastructure
