Latin America Employees Participate In Hanes Continuous Education Program

In 2009, the company created a continuing education program in Honduras that affords employees the opportunity to attend free Saturday classes at nearby schools. The program sponsors the education of Hanes employees who wish to return to school to earn their high school diploma.

The program is available to associates at 10 Hanes apparel manufacturing and sewing facilities.

Since its inception, the program has expanded to the Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Costa Rica. More than 1,300 employees have successfully graduated from secondary education in Honduras, and more than 800 employees from El Salvador and the Dominican Republic, collectively.

The company has provided more than 250,000 hours of education to develop the talent of its employees.

Hanes is also supporting employees who have even greater aspirations by developing higher-education programs in partnership with local universities in El Salvador, Honduras and the Dominican Republic.

For manager-level employees, the company introduced an International Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in El Salvador, Honduras and the Dominican Republic, which focuses on supply-chain management. It was launched in partnership with the prestigious EUNCET Business School, a center for higher education associated with the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain.

Hanes has been operating in Central America and the Caribbean for more than 40 years, and currently has 30,000 employees in the region.
