HanesBrands honored for CSR by two leading organizations
Two leading independent advocates of corporate responsibility – the Ethical Corporation and Corporate Responsibility Magazine – have honored HanesBrands and its employees for the company’s commitment to and achievements in environmental protection, workplace practices, and community improvement.
CR Magazine named former HanesBrands Executive Chairman Rich Noll as one of three winners of the organization’s ninth annual Responsible CEO of the Year Awards.
Noll picked up his award at the magazine’s two-day Commit Forum held in New York City that advocates for progressive corporate responsibility practices. He participated in a CEO panel discussion and attributed the success of the company’s Hanes for Good CSR program to the dedication and contributions of all 68,000 worldwide Hanes employees.
In addition, The Ethical Corporation, a London-based advocacy organization that recognizes responsible business practices around the world, honored HanesBrands with the 2016 Best Employee Engagement award for its innovative and highly successful Viviendo Verde (Green for Good) community improvement program in Latin America.
Hanes accepted the honors at the group’s 7th annual Responsible Business Awards ceremony at the Waldorf Hilton in London.
For award consideration, companies were required to demonstrate how they successfully communicated policies on sustainability with their employees. Hanes’ Viviendo Verde program combines the company’s environmental commitment with employee volunteerism to make meaningful improvements in the communities where we do business and our employees live. The unique program uses savings from sound environmental practices, such as recycling and landfill avoidance, to fund community improvement projects carried out by employee volunteers.
