Delivering Medical Care to Employees and Families
Using specially designed mobile medical clinics, HanesBrands has found a unique way to deliver basic healthcare services to employees, their families and neighboring communities in Latin America.
First introduced in Honduras in 2011, the clinics are reconstructed commercial shipping containers that can be transported by truck. The units are equipped with patient areas, offices, a waiting area and a pharmacy. A small staff of doctors and nurses uses the clinics to provide basic care, including dermatology, vision care, dental care, pediatric services, vaccinations and nutrition consultations.
The clinics were constructed using the proceeds from the recycling of facility waste materials, through Hanes’ Green for Good recycling program.
The mobile clinics are primarily used at special health events for Hanes employees and their families, but Hanes often donates the use of the mobile clinics to local health fairs and other events in the communities where we operate.
In addition to Honduras, Hanes has now launched mobile clinics in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and El Salvador. Hundreds of Latin Americans have received basic medical care through these convenient and portable units.
